Paris Saint Germain vs FC Barcelona

Maybe the most promising matchup in this 2016/7 UEFA Champions League round of 16 is this clash between Messi, Suarez & Neymar vs Cavani, Di Maria & Draxler.

Luis Enrique side finished at the top of group C led by 10 goals from Messi with 5 wins and only one draw. Unai Emery's team came out 2nd in group A as Cavani 6 goals took Les Parisiens to the knockout stage.

Last time the 2 sides met was actually a quadrilateral meeting back in the 2014/15 season as the two sides met each other twice in the group stage with one win for each team and twice in the quarterfinal as 2 legs ended with Barca wining & advancing eventually to winning the whole tournament.

Our forecast: Barca should win the 2-legged tie, but the first one on Parc des Princes should be a close one – Draw.

Real Madrid vs SSC Napoli

The current title holders will start their knockout stage road to defend their trophy in a big clash vs the Southern Italy side which is always a strong side to deal with.

Finishing only in 2nd place at group F gave the Blancos a tough draw as The Neapolitan had a good group stage run, finishing 1st in group B.

The previous time (and the only) the sides competed each other was back in the 1987/88 season as the Madridistas won 3-1 on aggregate.

Our forecast: The first leg that will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu wouldn’t be easy for the home side, but they should get a promising lead towards the 2nd leg in Naples – Win for Real Madrid.

Bayern Munich vs Arsenal

The Germans and the English side, are very familiar with each other and both considered as teams that can go all the way to the Final in Cardiff.

Arsene Wenger side had a good group stage finishing first in group A with 4 wins and 0 losses. Carlo Ancelotti's team had a mediocre group stage performance finishing 2nd in group D with 2 losses.

The two sides met 10 times in the past, including two round of 16 meetings during the 2012/13 & 2013/14 seasons (both ending with the Germans moving on) as well as 2 encounters at the last season group stage with 1 win for each team.

Our forecast: Arsenal has not passed the round of 16 since the 2009/10 season. This can happen this year, but we don’t see the Gunners coming with the victory from the 1st leg at the Allianz Arena – Win for Bayern Munich.
